Attention Artists and Event-Goers: It’s time to demand the sound you deserve

Too often, venues and promoters prioritize flashy visuals, cool lasers, and over-the-top stage designs—while neglecting the most important element of all: the sound. This is the MUSIC scene, and sound systems should always be the top priority. A breathtaking light show means nothing without the music.

Ever been to an event and wondered why your favorite artist didn’t sound quite right? It’s not the artist—it’s the sound system. Think ringing ears are the price of a great night? They’re not. That’s the sound system failing to deliver balanced, clean sound. A proper sound system protects your hearing while enhancing the music. Many people don’t realize just how much the sound system impacts their experience and the way an artist's music is heard and felt. A subpar system can rob the music of its energy, clarity, and emotion.

That’s why we’re launching #SoundSystemsMatter, a movement dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of high-quality sound systems at EDM events. Here’s why YOU should care:

10 Reasons Why Sound Systems Matter

🔥 1. Your Experience Matters
A quality sound system ensures every beat, drop, and frequency sounds crystal clear. Don’t settle for muddy, distorted music.

💥 2. Brings the Energy
The vibe of an EDM event is driven by powerful bass and clean sound. Without it, the magic fades, and the energy just isn’t the same. The better the sound, the better the vibe!

🎧 3. Showcases the Artist’s Vision
DJs and producers invest countless hours perfecting their music, crafting every detail with intention. A poor sound system distorts their work, misrepresenting their artistry and robbing the audience of the full experience as it was meant to be heard.

🏟️ 4. Consistent Sound Everywhere
A quality system ensures balanced audio throughout the venue, so everyone hears the music as it’s meant to be—no matter where they are. Whether you’re at the front rail or in the back corner, every listener deserves the same immersive, high-fidelity experience.

🛡️ 5. Protects Your Ears
High end systems deliver clean, clear audio even at high volumes, reducing the risk of ear fatigue or hearing damage.

💸 6. You Deserve to Get What You Paid For
You spend good money to see your favorite artists. You deserve a show that matches your investment, including listening to that artist on a proper sound system.

🎤 7. It Sets a Professional Standard
Top-tier sound systems demonstrate that venues and promoters value their audience, setting a benchmark for quality in the industry.

8. Connects Artists and Fans

The sound system is the bridge that connects the artist’s performance to the audience, transforming sound into a shared, intimate experience.

🔊 9. Encourages Repeat Attendance
When fans have an amazing audio experience, they’re more likely to return. Poor sound discourages repeat visits, harming the venue’s bottom line.

🌍 10. Elevates the Entire EDM Community
The movement for better sound doesn’t just improve individual events—it raises the overall standard for the entire EDM industry, ensuring fans everywhere get the best experience.

🎤 Fans: This Is Your Chance to Take Action

As fans, your voice matters more than you think! Here’s how you can support the #SoundSystemsMatter movement:

  • Ask Questions: When a show is announced, ask the promoter or venue what sound system they plan on providing.

  • Support Quality Events: Spend your money on events that prioritize great sound and avoid those with consistently poor sound. Every time you buy a ticket to an event that you know is going to have cheap production just because the lineup is good, you're basically telling those promoters and venues that it's okay to not spend money on proper production.

  • Message the Artists: If you know an artist is about to play at an event or venue with a history of bad sound, send them a respectful message. Let them know you’re excited to see them but also express your concern about the venue’s sound quality. Artists have the influence to push for better production and deserve to know how it impacts their fans’ experiences.

  • Engage Online: Comment on event posts and social media, expressing how important quality sound is to you. Give feedback about the event, and tell the promoter or venue if you weren't satisfied with the sound. The more feedback a promoter gets, the more likely a promoter will do something about it.

  • Know your systems: At events, look for the sound system brand on the speakers or politely ask the sound engineers in the sound booth what company they are and what speakers are being used. Take note of the system and how it sounds—what did you like or dislike about how it sounded? Being aware of the systems behind the music helps you appreciate the difference in how your favorite artists sound on different systems. The more you know, the better equipped you are to advocate for the sound you deserve!

Your feedback and support help raise awareness and hold promoters accountable for delivering the sound quality you deserve. We vote with our voice and our attendance to these events, we choose what the standards are.

🎤 Artists: This Is Your Moment to Lead

As creators, you have the power to elevate the entire EDM experience. Here’s how you can join the movement:

  • Request High-Quality Sound Systems: Require professional-grade audio setups in your performance contracts, and include a penalty fee if the sound quality doesn’t meet agreed-upon standards.

  • Care About Your Fans’ Experience: Prioritizing sound quality just as much as profit shows your fans that their experience matters to you. As an artist you have a responsibility to help ensure that your fans are getting the experience they paid for at the events you perform at.

  • Show Up to Sound Check: You put a lot of time into your art, it's important to hear how it’s going to sound live before you perform for your audience. Sound checks ensure your art is represented as you intended and guarantee a better experience for your fans.

  • Connect with the Sound Engineer: Your sound engineer is like a skilled barber—it’s your music, but they’re the ones who shape it and make it shine. Taking a moment to engage with them and establish a positive rapport makes them more likely to go the extra mile to ensure you sound incredible.

  • Set the Standard: By advocating for better sound, you encourage the entire industry to follow suit.

Build a Lasting Legacy. Don’t let poor sound ruin your reputation or misrepresent your music to new listeners. And let’s be real—you go to shows too. Don’t you want the same high-quality sound when you’re in the crowd? Sound matters, no matter which side of the stage you’re on.

🎤 Promoters and Venues: Good Sound is Good for Business!

As the backbone of the music scene, promoters and venues have a crucial role in delivering unforgettable experiences. High-quality sound systems are not just a luxury—they’re a necessity for standing out and earning loyal fans. Here’s how investing in proper sound can elevate your business:

  • Minimizes Sound Bleed: Well-calibrated sound systems reduce noise spilling into surrounding areas, helping you comply with local noise ordinances and maintain positive relationships with neighbors. This is especially crucial for outdoor festivals and urban venues.

  • Invests in Reputation: Events with exceptional sound quality leave lasting impressions on attendees. An event known for its superior sound attracts loyal fans and top-tier artists, giving you a competitive edge.

  • Reduces Complaints and Increase Praise: Poor sound leads to complaints from both attendees and artists, tarnishing your reputation. Great sound generates organic praise and positive reviews, boosting ticket sales and attendance.

  • Artists Perform Better: Offering state-of-the-art sound shows that you respect the craft of the artists you book. They’ll perform better knowing their music is represented faithfully, and this mutual respect strengthens industry relationships.

  • Enhances the Experience for Vendors and Staff: Clean and well-balanced sound keeps energy high for everyone involved, including vendors, bartenders, and security. A positive working environment contributes to the overall success of the event.

  • Draws Bigger Crowds: Word of mouth about incredible sound quality spreads quickly. Fans and artists will choose your events over others, knowing you prioritize the core of the experience—the music.

By investing in better sound systems, you’re not just improving the event—you’re solidifying your brand as a leader in the industry.

💬 Join the Movement Today!

As fans, and artists, we have the power to set the standards. Let’s refuse to accept anything less than exceptional. We bring the energy, they should bring the sound.

Together, we can ensure the music we love is always heard the way it’s meant to be. 🎶

P.S. Protect Your Ears: Hear the Music, Not the Damage

Even with the best sound systems, protecting your hearing is critical. High-fidelity sound systems reduce distortion, but prolonged exposure to high volumes can still cause long-term damage. That’s where earplugs come in—they’re an essential tool for enjoying music safely.

Why you need earplugs at every event:

  • Your hearing is permanent: Once it’s damaged, it’s gone. Earplugs shield you from harm without dulling the sound.

  • Clean sound, comfortable vibes: High-fidelity earplugs lower the volume without sacrificing clarity, letting you fully enjoy the music.

  • No one cares if you’re wearing them: Trust us, people are too focused on the music and having a good time to notice—or care—about your earplugs.

  • Stay on the dance floor longer: Protecting your ears means less fatigue and more time vibing to the music you love.

If you love music enough to go to events, you owe it to yourself to protect your ears. Wear earplugs, enjoy the show, and keep the music alive for years to come.
